We are in the dog days of summer. It is time to get creative in our recipe choices. I want something cool and light. Don’t get me wrong, I love a warm cozy meal or treat, but when it is 100 degrees outside for days on end I need refreshment. This watermelon cooler is a great solution.

Do you remember when I posted this recipe for lemon bars? I didn’t think I could find another lemon recipe that could rival that one. I was so wrong. These cookies are light, buttery and wrapped in a tangy lemon flavor. I could’ve eaten the whole pan myself.

Happy Fourth of July! As you celebrate Independence Day sip on this tasty cocktail called Low Country Lemonade. Looking for a mocktail so the kids can celebrate too? I used Glacier Freeze-flavored Gatorade, but you can also use the Cool Blue flavor.
Dips are probably one of my top 10 dishes. I love cheese dip, salsa, pizza dip, spinach dip, hummus and many more. If I can dip a chip or cracker in it, chances are, I like it. This recipe is one that I hadn’t tried before.
Flag cake is a must have at every Fourth of July celebration. Cake is one thing I cannot resist. Every party, in my opinion, should have a cake. You can find the sheet cake recipe I used here. However, if you have a favorite cake recipe, use that instead. I also used cream cheese icing. You can find that recipe here. Cream cheese icing is not negotiable.
Potato salad is a summer staple. I always get it at my favorite BBQrestaurant where it is crisp and cool. The cool temperature, crisp texture and vibrant flavor play off the sweet spicy BBQ I love best. Coincidentally, I usually cook BBQ on the 4th. I searched high and low for a new potato salad recipe to try out this year. I didn’t find anything that matched the potato salad I envisioned.
