Flag cake is a must have at every Fourth of July celebration. Cake is one thing I cannot resist. Every party, in my opinion, should have a cake. You can find the sheet cake recipe I used here. However, if you have a favorite cake recipe, use that instead. I also used cream cheese icing. You can find that recipe here. Cream cheese icing is not negotiable.
Potato salad is a summer staple. I always get it at my favorite BBQrestaurant where it is crisp and cool. The cool temperature, crisp texture and vibrant flavor play off the sweet spicy BBQ I love best. Coincidentally, I usually cook BBQ on the 4th. I searched high and low for a new potato salad recipe to try out this year. I didn’t find anything that matched the potato salad I envisioned.

Few things go together like Oreos and ice cream. It’s a classic combination right up there with peanut butter and jelly. I don’t buy Oreos very often, only because once I open a bag I can’t stay away. Usually the bag doesn’t last more than two days. I found this recipe while surfing the Internet and just had to try it.
Lately I’ve been experimenting with different turkey burger recipes. I have found that a lot of recipes don’t give the turkey enough flavor. Turkey easily absorbs the flavors you season it with. If you don’t give turkey enough flavor, it can taste bland.
