A Taste Arkansas Thanksgiving: Side Dishes
Instead of traditional Thanksgiving recipes (don’t worry we have those too) I am sharing some non-traditional recipe ideas to spice up your meal.

Last year I posted holiday recipes that my mom uses here. It was fun to share some of the traditional recipes my mom makes during the holiday season. This year, I thought it would be interesting to share some non-traditional recipes from Taste Arkansas…
I am starting to gather recipes for the holiday season and all of these look fabulous. This toffee looks like it has the potential to be a perfect gift and the blog post has some great step-by-step photos. I love anything the Pioneer Woman makes and this recipe for Pull-Apart Bread is no exception. Finally, who can resist a good cookie? Not me!
I made this BLT with; you guessed it, Petit Jean Bacon and kicked it up a notch with pesto mayonnaise. If you’ve had a stressful week, make this BLT, sit down and enjoy some bacon therapy.
This Zucchini Banana Bread has the perfect consistency, tender and moist without being doughy. The flavor is balanced and clean.
This week’s pinsperation includes a handy guide for creating frosting colors, a recipe for Cheesy Zucchini Rice and a recipe for Triple Banana Double Caramel Mini Cupcakes.
I was absolutely blown away by the response to our contest. So many of you liked, commented and shared far beyond my expectations. You followed the rules and read the posts. You all are winners.
Petit Jean Meats is known for their ham. They are flavorful, tender and easy to cook. I added a simple glaze to my ham and it was phenomenal. The glaze was sweet and slightly tangy, but didn’t over power the ham’s flavor.
This Smoked Sausage and Penne Casserole has some similarities to Green Bean Casserole, but it is much heartier. I used whole grain penne and skim milk to lighten the recipe up a bit. It was really good. The texture was great, creamy and cheesy without being too gooey. The sausage added the perfect punch of flavor.
Just in time for the cool weather this weekend I found three recipes for fall friendly foods. Sweet Potato Brown Sugar Cinnamon Rolls, Chicken Tortilla Soup and Cheddar Ale Soup all sound delicious.
